Prologue chapters 1-5

Chapter 1 (Mai)

I am Mai. A guildless but yet powerful Assassin.

Lyssa appeared before me, staring into my eyes. They seemed angry. What would she do to me? Where am I? Am I.. dreaming? Maybe I'm not. If I'm not dreaming then I'm screwed.

Then I woke up. I saw my statue of Lyssa looking at me, I had placed it there to remind me.
Remind me of that I am an Assassin of Lyssa.

I lived in Droknars Forge, a snow covered town in the Southern Shiverpeaks.

I walked like a drunk cow to the kitchen. Made some coffee and went to the temple with less drunk cow-ish steps. I prayed to Lyssa for a blessing. I had to find work.

Later that day, I sat on a rock in the Shiverpeaks. I had helped a group of people looking for an artifact of some sort.

Then it happened. I never thought such a thing would happen. But it did. I am going to tell you my version of the chaos, the evil that shook our world so much that it never really restored. This is not a story of detail, but a story to inform those who were not there to see it. I will not tell you how green the trees were, or how yellow the sand were, neither how white the snow were.

Chapter 2 (Selene)

I am Selene. A Monk, capable of using some nifty Mesmer skills too. I had been walking from my uncle who was living not far from ascalon. He had severe wounds after a fight with vicious rabbits. I had healed him and had a cup of tea. He is a very lonely man, I couldn't just leave. But i should have. I really should have.

When I was near ascalon, I saw dark clouds over the town. I ran to the gates.

'Guard! What is going on?' I asked, while the ground was shaking and blood was raining.
'Th.. th.. the sky..'. He could barely speak.

I looked at the sky. It looked like it was red, but it was the blood. I was scared. I had never been that scared before. I saw my sister, wich I had not seen for years, floating in the sky. Archers were firing arrows at her, but she was not affected by them. She moved her daggers at a great speed and reflected the arrows back at the archers. Suddenly she leaped down at them and cut them in two pieces, and ran at a great speed around the town, cutting down everything she saw.

Should I fight her, or just flee?

I made the wrong choice. I just ran. I fled the city.

I am going to tell you my version of the chaos, the evil that shook our world so much that it never really restored. This is not a story of detail, but a story to inform those who were not there to see it. I will not tell you how green the trees were, or how yellow the sand were, neither how white the snow were.

Chapter 3 (Mai)

I saw only darkness. Floating in the darkness i saw pictures. Pictures showing me destroy the town of ascalon.

A cold hand touched my back. I turned around.

There she was, the girl who spoke to me in the Shiverpeaks.

'How are you feeling?' she asked.

'Where am I?' I answered.

I tried to look less scared* then I was. Even Assassins get a little nervous standing in complete darkness feeling blood dripping from the roof (or whatever it was over my head, maybe i didn't want to know) and standing with that.. wierd.. voice of the girl. Something was wrong with her, I just felt it inside me. My skin were freezing under her hand.

'You don't recognize the domains of your master?' She said, laughing.

'Just answer!' I were shouting.

'Someone's getting nervous, eh?'

Her hand slowly moved to my neck. I think she would strangle me, so i threw her backwards while more pictures appeared, showing me destroying more parts of ascalon.

'What do you think you're doing, girl?!' She were screaming now.

I was paralyzed. I saw my sister on a picture, crying and running from town. Had I done something to her? I were almost mad at the time being. It was hard to see the difference of whats real and not.

'What are those pictures?' I said.

I knew were I were now. I were in the rift. The domain of the Tyrian gods.

'I know where I am. Just tell me, what are those pictures?'

'That is what your body are doing in your world.'

*I was almost shitting my pants.

Chapter 4 (Selene) (This chapter is MEANT to be wierd)

I ran. I ran to the Northern Shiverpeaks. With no sleep, food and water. Dwayna had moved my legs when I was almost dead.

Maybe I forgot to tell you, but I was the High Priestess in Ascalon. While there still was an Ascalon.

Nothing had happened in the Northern Shiverpeaks yet, they said, but in the Southern Shiverpeaks a man had disappeared. Long inside myeart, I knew what had happened. I just couldn't accept it. That couldn't have been my brother.

I decided to travel to Lions Arch, in Kryta. There I would travel to my childhood home.

It was not far, or at least it didn't feel like it was far. It was like if I was in trance. I heard voices. Prayers, from the ruins of Ascalon. They were inside my head all the time.

I didn't go to Lions Arch. I could no longer control my legs. Instead I went to an empty church. I knew what Dwayna wanted me to do. Dwayna wanted me to run this church.

The church was not far from a small village. Monsters had almost destroyed the last of the village when she came to help. The village almost lived in that church after that moment.

Chapter 5 (Mai)

I couldn't believe it. I was the one destroying my sisters home. But how could I? I am standing right here..?

'It isn't your fault.'
'Then who's fault is it?
'I bringed you here.' the Servant said.
'Figured.'
'Lyssa needs help. A reaper malfunctioned (they come from factories, really) and has done severe damage. It almost defeated Lyssa.'
'Our god almost got killed by her own puppet?'
'Did you think she was strong? She used to be.'
'What do you mean "she used to be"?'
'She was strong about 2000 years ago. Now the army of puppets represent her strength.'
'And?'
'What?'
'Why did you bring me here?'
'You need to help Lyssa.'
'In what way do i help her by destroying that city? And how could I, a simple Assassin, do that?!'
'It is not you that are inside your body, idiot. It's the reaper.
'So what do i have to do?'
'You shouldn't do anything. Everything has it's time and place. You shall wait.'
'Wait for what?'
'You will see.'

End of prologue.
